Tyler Man Found Not Guilty in Domestic Assault Case
February 2026
Tyler, Texas--An East Texas man from Tyler was acquitted by a jury in the Criminal Court at Law #2 late Thursday afternoon after 20 minutes of deliberation. The charges stemmed from an argument whereby the alleged victim accused the man of striking her several times with his hand and fist. During the trial, defense attorney Tab Lawhorn cross-examined the alleged victim regarding her previous inconsistent statements about the injuries that the man had received and the manner in which he received them. Photographs of the man's injuries, including many with blood from fresh wounds, were entered into evidence as defense exhibits. The trial lasted 2 days, with the jury determining that the State did not meet its burden to convict the man of the charge.
